The Architecture
We build on our block theme architecture.
- Core theme: Provides the structural foundation, including layout primitives, typography system, color tokens, accessibility defaults, and responsive behavior.
- Child themes: Inherit this foundation and customize it for specific brands and industries.
- Custom Gutenberg blocks: Extend the editor with components built for each site's content.
- Block patterns: Pre-built page sections content editors can assemble without touching code.
One fix in the core theme reaches every site. When we improve the core system, every site on the platform benefits. When we fix an accessibility issue, it propagates. When we add a new block, it becomes available across the ecosystem. This is the difference between building websites one at a time and building a platform that produces websites.
