## Bring a region into view

The Tourism Development Society, supported by GIZ, the German development agency, asked us for an identity, print material and a tourism website for Far-Western Nepal, in one engagement.

The logo is built from the region itself. The rectangle is a gateway into the region, and the pattern down its left side comes from the carvings found in Tharu homes. Inside stands the swamp deer, the barasingha. The A in "FAR" carries the outline of Mount Api, and the green and blue come from its landscape.

## Start with place

The home-page design gives the regional map a prominent role. It helps connect destination names with their locations before the visitor explores individual attractions.

## Plan repeatable information

Wireframes cover destination pages, festivals, trip details and related information. Planning the page structure gave the content work a clear format.

## Take the identity beyond the screen

Print material carries the map, itineraries and practical information into a format that can be handed to someone. The project connected the identity, website and visitor print material.

## Keep it running

The website went live in spring 2014, and a tour package page and analytics followed that summer. In 2017 we redesigned the home page and inner pages from a new style guide, and kept the news and team pages current. By 2018 the menu followed the land itself, from the Terai through the middle hills to the Himalayas. The site was live in every yearly capture of the Web Archive from 2014 to 2021.
