## The client who is also the whole company

A one-person business hires an agency for a different reason than a large company. A large company already has a team and needs extra help. You have no team, so you need someone to make the decisions and get the work done.

That changes what good service should look like. You should not have to write a detailed plan, run meetings, or understand technical terms to get a website that works.

## What we handle for you

**Technical decisions.** We choose the right platform and hosting for you and explain why.

**The build.** We handle the design and development with the same engineers our larger clients get, however small the project.

**Keeping it running.** We take care of updates, security, backups, and fixing issues when something breaks.

**What comes next.** Many clients come back for updates, new websites, or a rebuild when they are ready.

## What the work has been

Since 2009, 23 of our clients have been individuals rather than companies. Instead of showing names or initials, we think the work itself is better proof:

- Turning PSD designs into responsive WordPress websites
- Redesigning an existing website to improve the user experience, delivered in three parts
- Connecting SendGrid to a WordPress multisite so emails reached inboxes
- Building a WordPress site on Toolset that the client could update themselves
- Small front-end jobs for blogs and websites
- UI and UX design for a React Native app
- A gallery, social sharing, and smaller HTML and CSS work, for the same person across a year
- A website for an education business, built at the end of 2024

One client described a 2013 project as "A Simple Job Leading to a Long Term Client Relationship". That sums up the pattern, and we did not write it.

**Why no names.** These are people, and for a one-person business the surname usually is the business, so a first initial and a surname would name them. Initials name nobody but prove nothing. If any of them would like to be credited properly, we will ask rather than assume.

## How the work runs

You tell us what you need in your own words, we ask only the important questions, do the work, and send it to you for approval.

We are 9 hours 45 minutes ahead of US Eastern in summer and 10 hours 45 minutes in winter, so work you send at the end of your day is already in progress when you start your next morning. No meetings unless you want them. Our longest agency partnership, a [13-year partnership](/services/white-label), ran on fewer than 5 meetings per year, and that is how we like to work.
